STEPS Initiative

 

Striving Teachers Effectively Preparing Students (STEPS) is a multi-year literacy initiative designed to systematically improve literacy for K-12 graders at Douglass and the elementary schools that feed Douglass.

 

Goal

  • Increase trojan reading proficiency by at-least 4% per year based on 8th and 11th grade testing

Initiative will

  • Measure reading proficiency

  • Implement middle school and high school literacy intervention courses

  • Train and coach staff to improve literacy instruction throughout the school

  • Team with trojan families and the Northeast Oklahoma City community to grow and support our culture of literacy
